Audio CD of Dr Bhupen Hazarika ’s songs launched

By A Staff Reporter GUWAHATI, Feb 13 – An audio CD titled Instrumental Hits of Bhupendra Sangeet with Notation, of twelve soulful songs of legendary artiste Dr Bhupen Hazarika, played on the violin by eminent artiste Purabi Kakoty Sharma, was launched by Dr Hazarika at Kumar Bhaskar Natya Mandir at Uzanbazar here this evening.The twelve renditions which have been played in the CD are Manuhe Manuhar Babe, Mai Hero Jashoa, Bistirna Parare, Janakpurar Janakiye, Akashi Ganga Bichara Nai, O Mishing Dekati, Buku Ham Ham Kare, Kuhuwa Ban Mor Ashanta Mon, Bimurta Mor Nishanti, Ah Ah Olai Ah, Chitralekha Chitralekha and O Bideshi Bandhu.The music arrangement is done by Rupam Talukdar.It may be mentioned that ‘Stuti’, a cultural institution of the State has produced the audio CD.Dr Hazarika was accorded warm felicitations on the occasion by Kamrup Natya Samiti and Stuti.

Bhupen Hazarika honoured for lifetime achievement

Guwahati (PTI): Eminent singer Bhupen Hazarika was conferred Pramathesh Barua Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award along with a cabinet minister's status by the Assam government.
The award instituted by Assam government's Directorate of Cultural Affairs was given to the maestro by chief minister Tarun Gogoi last evening here in recognition for his all-round contribution.
Gogoi also announced that Hazarika, a Dadasaheb Phalke award receipient, would also get a cabinet minister's status.
"The legendary artiste's contribution in the field of culture do not need repitition," Gogoi said.
Accepting the award, Hazarika said, "I have been a cultural worker all my life, striving to promote the rich heritage of Assam throughout the world. I might have won many awards but the love of the people of Assam is most dear to me," he said.
In the programme, Hazarika handed over various memorabilia, awards, trophies, accesories, film prints, certificates, audiocassettes and CDs to the Chief Minister for preservation and display
