GUWAHATI
: The All Assam Students' Union ( Aasu) on Tuesday organized a prayer meet for quick recovery of ailing Bhupen Hazarika and Mamoni Raisom Goswami. The music maestro Bhupen Hazarika has shown development in his health and expressed his desire to return to his homeland. On the other hand, Jnanpith awardee Mamoni Raisom Goswami continues to be stable in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

"We are extremely happy that Bhupenda smiled and talked to us on Tuesday. He sat on his bed for a few while and also drank water. He said he was hungry and wanted to eat something," said Debasish Sharma, resident commissioner of Assam Bhawan from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Though he drank water, Bhupenda would be allowed to eat only after he recovers fully from his throat infection.

"Bhupenda also expressed his desire to go back to his homeland. The doctors too are excited to see Bhupenda on a recovery path," he added.
